Art Final Part A

Wednesday we take part of our art final.  It’s over artist and terms.  I’m ready for it because i study for all my tests.  What i don’t understand is why we have three different parts to our final.  On top of that we have a paper to write.  I’m just glad I am almost done with her class.

Weather

Its 42 degrees in May! Oh how I love living in Kansas, I am house sitting for my friends while they are in Jamaica. I am asking myself why I didn’t fast for a month so I could fit in their suitcase? I can’t wait till I get married and get to go on a honeymoon, I want to go on a seven day cruise! I think it would be so awesome to live in a place where you can swim all year. I would be like a fish in the water, I would never want to get out!

Nephew!

Four more weeks until my little nephew will be here! I am so excited that I can’t hardly stand it! This is my first nephew and I am going to spoil him rotten. Plus he is going to have first grandchild syndrome because he is my parent’s first grandchild. This baby already had tons of toys, clothes, a crib, a car seat, and a ton of other things in my living room. :) The picture below is my little nephew Taylor Hadley at 34 weeks!

Childhood Memory

As I am sitting here trying to think of something to blog about, I began thinking of my childhood. When I was younger I was always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Once when I was four, my brother was chopping wood in the backyard with a garden hoe. I was sitting on the ground beside him playing in the dirt, as he swung the hoe down to hit the piece of wood I reached under him to hold it still. I bet you can guess what happened next…he swung and struck me right in the top of the head with the rusty gardening hoe. If you have ever had a head injury before you know that they always bleed ten times worse than any other injury. As I laid there screaming bloody murder and holding my head my mom rushes over to me to see what had happened. I was bleeding so bad that my wound required constant pressure, my mom wrapped a towel around my head and rushed over to the neighbors house to see if he would kindly drive me to the emergency room. After the longest ride of my life we finally arrive at the ER. I had lost a lot of blood and I was in terrible pain. Five staples later, my head wound was mended and I was on my way home.

A few years later when I was around ten, I was standing behind my sister while she was swinging a massive wooden golf club. She struck me in the temple and once again I found myself with a towel on my head, headed to the ER. This time I didn’t have to get stitched or stapled, I came home with a Snoopy Band-Aid and a splotch of glue on my head. I am wondering if these two head injuries are the reason why I can’t sit down and type an entire paper without getting up at least once and pacing around the house.

The simple things in life

Dandelion seed head

Image via Wikipedia

The other day I took my almost 2 year old nephew outside to play. He was immediately attracted to the dandelions growing all over the yard. I picked up one of the weeds, which he considers flowers, and showed him how to blow away the seeds. He plopped down on the ground, picked a dandelion, and tried to blow the seeds off. It was very amusing to watch the look of determination on his face as he did this. We probably spent the next ten minutes picking the “flowers” and blowing them all over the yard.

So much of the time we get caught up in work, school, and the many other things that seem to consume our lives. It was a great reminder for me that the simple, almost insignificant, things in life can mean the most.

An Awesome Easter Surprise

I took in a 10 year old girl, many years ago.  I kept her till she was 18 and consider her my own.  Unfortunately, she got caught up with meth several years ago and we lost touch with each other.  I looked for her many times but was unable to track her down. (You move around a lot when you are strung out.)  I finally gave up a couple years ago.  Then the wonder of facebook!!  She found me just before Easter-and she came to see me on Easter.  It was a wonderful surprise, but the best was yet to come.  She has gotten off meth and has turned her life around. She even went back to school at age 36.  I’m so proud of her! I know the road she has traveled has been a difficult one, but she is on the right track.

Research Papers

I am more than ready for this semester to be over. I have several large papers to write, for some reason its hard for me to meet the requirements for the length of these papers. Once I get the basics of the paper and all of the details I can think of, I still need double the amount of words. I try and try to put in all of the things that I can get from my sources, but I just can’t seem to do it. Any suggestions on how to make writing these HUGE papers easier?
